Hi all - does anyone know if the Audi corrosion warranty (or otherwise) will cover corrosion on the asthetic polished metal surrounds on my exhaust?

The car is less than 2 years old and its disappointing that they have corroded so badly and look a bit of a mess!

Pic attached -

Not if my recent experience with a full Audi warranty is anything to go buy.
Bought my R8 from Cardiff Audi a year ago with a one year warranty.A month before the warranty ran out the mag ride had started to leak so i took pictures and informed Walton on Thames Audi when it was in for it's service.
Was told the warranty company will not pay for the mag ride to be fixed/replaced because it was not leaking on the day it was in for it's service despite me having pictures and you could see dried up fluid all over shocks etc.
Suffice to say i won't be buying another Audi from a main dealer if ever again.Total sham of a warranty which covered almost fck all and though mag ride WAS covered they refused to do it.
Will be complaining to Audi UK but think them getting my now out of warranty car fixed is slim to none.
Shame as great car but bunch of sharks regarding customer service.Shame on you Audi.
That is terrible and definitely worth following up with Audi customer devices.

My issue is insignificant compared to yours, but is annoying none the less.

I've popped an email to my service advisor to see what he says.

If you have a good relationship with the dealer I would enquire about this. If you like I can send you several photos of older, higher mileage cars not suffering the same issue.

You could probably do the same on their used forecourt.

They could quite reasonably argue that cosmetic corrosion on the exhaust isn't actually a fault or failure but in my experience Audi are quite good about sorting this sort of issue.

Agreed again; both named component and all component cover include dampers as long as it was a 'sudden failure'. Put a clear, calm case to customer service that you disagree with the dealer's decision. If it was not leaking when serviced but an MOT tester confirms it is now then clearly a sudden failure has occurred.
Thanks Dr G.

I emailed but no response as of yet.

Whilst it's not a big deal, it is a bit poor and the pipes are an added extra of the S Line model, seperately listed on the website in the spec - so doesn't seem right for it to be excluded from warranty or knackered after a couple of years.

I'll update once I hear back!

With regard to the exhaust tips, I'm not sure that is corrosion? Have you tried cleaning it with t-cut as it looks more like exhaust deposits, corrosion wouldn't be flat but bumpy and bubbly looking.

As far warranty goes I think you would struggle to justify a valid claim for what is a cosmetic issue but don't ask you don't get.
I've cleaned it with metal polish and it's where chrome has flaked or come off (not as part of my cleaning process)

To say "it's cosmetic, not covered" seems unfair when they list the pipes in the spec.

If the alloys laquer peeled and they looked a mess, would that not be covered?

If the chrome on the grill all came off, would that be cosmetic too?

Etc etc

(I do see your point though hence my question!)

Since posting this thread, the climate control packed in on the car and it was hard enough getting them to fix that on warranty, so I gave up regarding the exhaust trims.

One thing I have learnt from the experience is that, for me, I am better maintaining my cars through a trusted specialist and paying for whatever needs doing, than going through warranty and the resulting arguments/blood pressure that results.

This means, for Audi, they will no longer retain a loyal customer in respect of selling used approved vehicles or extending warranties etc.

In fact, after this car, I probably won't even buy another Audi at all.
