Which octane rating for C6 RS6

The manual and filler cap on my C6 RS6 suggest using 95 octane fuel - is there any benefit to performance or economy by switching to a higher octane? I didn't notice anything running on BP Ultimate 97, but I've not yet tried V-Power 99.
