Started yeaterday on my way home. 64 plate 2.0ltr diesel sounds like a petrol lawn more occasionally during acceleration at 2800 to approx 3200rpm.

Waiting for a call from audi to book it in for a check but has anyone any idea what it could be?

Should it not sound more industrial than a lawn mower?

Nope no leaks. Oil level, and fluid levels all ok. Got it dropped off to Audi today and thankfully it made the rattle when the tech was with me on teat drive.

Sounds like its from nearside/top of engine.

So if thats the case why has it started after 4000 miles and not from new and why does the 2.0ltr TDI i have as a courtesy car not do it? I know diesels are not quiet as had last car was diesel but this sound isnt right.

I've always thought the VW 2.0 diesels have quite a characteristic ticking sound to them.

Sorry, I was being facetious about the response you might get... tongue out
