VAG Diesel engine reliability

What is the deal with VAG diesel engines these days? Are any of them reliable? Particularly those in cars build between 2005 and 2010?

Historically the 1.9 PD engines and the couple of generations before that were fairly bullet proof, however these don’t seem to have been used for much in the last 10 years.

It looks like the 2.0 TDI from 2005 to 2007 were a bit of a mess for a selection of reasons.

The 2.7 and 3.0 from the same period suffer from timing chain issues and injector problems.

Is there a definitive guide as to which engines are good and which engines have significant issues?
