Audi 1.4 TFSI 125 or 150?

My parents are thinking of getting an A3 sportback. Currently they drive a Volvo C30 diesel 150 bhp and would like the same level of performance. Normally they would consider a similar engine for its replacement, however concerns over future diesel issues and the emissions of the TFSI engines make them of interest. The brochure claims a 0-60 time of 9.3 secs for the 125 TFSI Stronic, which seems adequate for their purposes. However does anyone know how it compares to the 150 TFSI and the diesel in terms of real life useful acceleration (e.g. mid range 50-70)?

Thanks for taking the time to reply and even predicting the follow up question on whether it can achieve a reasonable approximation of its official fuel consumption. I think you've answered my question pretty completely. As it's going to have the S-Tronic gearbox I guessing an extended warranty would be a good investment.
