I am interested in buying a Mk5 Golf GTI (around the 08/09 model year)... Cars in my Budget will be at around 60,000 miles

I want a DSG equipped car, but i am getting conflicting reports in the research i have done:
There seems to be 3 differing opinions:

1: There are no issues with the 6 speed DSG in this car

2: There is 1 known issue relating to a bearing that wears, leaving metalic debris on the magnets that decide the shift points and this fails (give or take) at 60,000miles

3: There is 1 known fault with this gearbox and it is due to gearbox ECU failure

I might add that car i will be looking at, are in Australia as that is where i am currently residing....

Anything else i should look for?

This one looks good (I like the cloth interior and silver paintwork).

Having said that, Ideally i would have liked an R32 (for the noise and the 4wd) but they are a little out of my price range... However i have stumbled on a couple of these for sale, and am seriously considering one - would this be the same engine as in the Passat R36? And would the gearbox (and any associated issues) be the same as that in the Mk5 GTI?
