mk6 gti vs mk7 without performance pack

Specifically I'm comparing the Mk6 to a Mk7 with the exclusion of the performance pack.
And in the used market there is a gigantic gap in price between a 2012 mk6 GTI and a 2013 mk7 GTI, about a 1/3 more of the price.
Every where I look, (TG, CH, MT, etc...) they all do their reviews on the GTI performance pack, with the better Diff, etc. and say it's amazing, and specifically, that Diff, but where I live, they do not offer the PP with a DSG car, which leaves it pointless because driving a manual where I live is the last thing I want to do for a daily driver in a congested city.
Very few reviews on the base GTI itself. Honestly, how does it stack up and is it worth it?
