Morning chums

My Dad has the above car and is causing him a major headache!

The electronic handbrake keeps locking in and not releasing. Having had it diagnosed they're saying it's the following:

01315 - transmission control module no communication

They've suggested a new one at £2750 inc Vat plus about a grand fitting as apparently all the codes will need re-inputting.

This is a specialist near him. Audi main dealer want within £30 the same money. Both have warned against repairing the existing one as can damage the box?

Does anyone have any cheaper or better ideas?

Car is a 2007 and probably worth no more than £8k I would have thought.

Cheers in advance
Dave

Hmmm interesting, garage is adamant it is DSG

It is Quattro and has the paddles on the back of the steering wheel?

Ok, so an interesting twist!

My Dad rang the garage back and asked them to confirm the diagnosis as it was definitely not a DSG box (this as after they specifically told him to go and Google DSG gearbox problems) and they got stroppy and told him to come and take the car away.

He turned up this morning along with the £120 he'd agreed with them for diagnosis and they just threw the keys at him and said they didn't want it just get the car off their forecourt!

So he drove it off and there was no warning lights or issues/problems.

All very confusing? I presume they were possibly trying to tuck him up but can't be sure.

Anyway I think the next plan is to get it into Audi and see if there is still an issue or not.

How bizarre!
