My 05 golf 2.0tdi has been in garage twice in last 2 weeks. Injector 2 replaced, new air flow meter and new plugs. £500+in parts alone. Car is back and still lumpy on idle and very smokey. White to be precise but does smell like it is running rich. However it is losing coolant slowly with no visible signs. Nothing in oil etc. I have read about the issues with porous heads/cracked heads and Im beginning to suspect this. Not willing to put £1500 into a head change. Is there any other cheaper solution?

Think I will stick it shed for now. Cost of repairs outweighs its value.

Bringing it back to mechanic. He has had £520 off me. Considering he builds and races his own cars I expected him to know his stuff and sort it. Have another £1000 here so hopefuly that might sort it

I assumed he did a compression check. I dont think it has egr cooler. No water in oil so not sure it is gasket as much as cylinder crack.

Porous head. Got it diagnosed by VW. So Im gonna look around for an engine. It is a BKD. What sort of money would a complete cost?

VW are lying sacks of st. Porous head my arse. Old school mechanic took car last week and found leak in matter of minutes. Waterpump has been seeping for long time and is noticable when watching from beneath. He also said timing was out slighly causing misfire. And he found oil leak in transfer box. So new cambelt, pump and gasket seal on box should sort car out. And all for £450.
