golf gti mk6- inlet manifold fault
Discussion
golf GTI mk6 2010
I've had the engine management light pop on/off over the last few weeks and had the fault code read when in for a service (local specialist). turns out the manifold inlet valve is sticking and they have recommended replacing the manifold (as the valve cant be replaced on its own)@ a cost of £550.
now a quick google is showing some results saying VW have increased the warranty on this specific part to 120k miles or 10 years which ever comes first. I gave the main dealer (where its been serviced regularly) and they said they don't know anything about that and they'd need to get the vehicle in look at it, run diagnostics (charge £70) and then take it from there....
does anyone have any knowledge of this issue, is it cheaper for me to DIY it (brother is a mechanic, so could be a weekend project), or should I speak to the dealer again?

yeah after re-reading some of the forum posts saying about extended warranty, looks like it's american/canadian forums!
not sure i'm too keen on the diy approach, it looks doable, but not as straight forward as i'd hoped. ref not a straight forward unbolt/bolt on job
yeah £550 was supply and fit by a indy specialist, they reckon parts + 4hrs labour
