A friend is looking to buy a Golf, the 150bhp 1.4, ex demo or very low miles, I'm assisting him but any PH wisdom from current owners or those in the know would be appreciated, can you help please?

Bit late clearly but any questions let me know, I'm two years and 42k miles in. There's a long thread I started when looking for one. Only thing is I'd totally disagree with above, throttle response is THE worst feature. I live with it, but get in a NASP car and or manual/torque converter and its night & day, 'they all do that sir', grrr.......
Thanks acme, throttle response seemed great, I drove on a mix of B roads and motorways and loved it, I know they updated these in July this year and I imagine that there's ongoing fettling that we dont get to hear about

My only gripe would be road noise on coarse surfaces, for a car lauded for its refinement it was a little disappointing

Have you noticed any differences using higher octane fuel?
