Octavia VRS TSI Mk3 temperature issues

Hi,

I have 13-plate Octavia VRS TSI (Mk3 model). Recently the temperature never gets up to its usual 90deg. The car warms up quickly (i.e. normally), but the water temperature only ever gets to between 65-80deg (depending on use) and oil temperature never goes above about 85 deg.

My initial diagnosis is faulty thermostat - but I know there have been issues with temperature senders in the past. Any improvements on my guess? I have VCDS to monitor temp blocks etc if necessary (not yet used)...

Yep, temperature goes up when stationary, and down when driving...

Unusual it comes up to temperature (albeit a low one) quickly though if the stat is stuck open(?).

VCDS gives a G62 fault - which apparently can be due either to a faulty thermostat, or the sensor itself. Will do some logging.
