Hello all,

Thought it would be helpful to send some thoughts on first two months with my new car - which is a 2015 GTI, DSG.

Overall I am very happy. Car has been used for some B road fun, transporting my family (wife + two kids), daily short drive to train station and four mates on a long round trip.

Positives:
It is much quicker than I expected, low down torque is great. Handling and steering feel also really nice when I am able to properly test it out! Paddles on gearbox work well and allow more controlled driving.
I really like the looks and plenty of gadgets to play with, I still haven't set up the Car Net and Apps. I play music through an SD card and the sound quality is good, much better than Bluetooth.
It feels really well built and a nice place to spend time, including at night.
Room for four adults / my young family, including buggies / bags etc. Pleasantly surprised.
Keyless go is brilliant, why have I never had that before!
My car has the pano roof which makes the interior feel really light.
Pops from the exhaust on full throttle upshifts!
MPG is averaging 35, but I do quite a few shorter journeys. I am happy with the figure given the performance.
Insurance was cheaper than my diesel Volvo family wagon!

Frustrations:
Traction in the wet. I have Bridgestone S001 tyres which get mixed reviews, but under hard acceleration in first and second gears the traction control is very busy. Anyone experience with other tyre makes?
I leave it Normal driving mode most of the time now. Personally, in Sport, I am not a fan of the fake engine noise (it sounds like a diesel) and I find the gearbox too keen to quick down and steering looses feeling.
Auto hold make driving very jerky, especially parking, so I leave it switched off.

I know a few of you are waiting for your cars to come through. Hope they come soon and you enjoy as much as me.

Thanks for all the comments and shared views, testament to how good the car is we are being relatively 'picky' about the negatives.

Sounds like either Goodyear F1 or Michelin PS4 are a better tyre than the standard Bridgestone, I may change mine in the next few months so will keep you updated. Seems about £400 all in for the Goodyears.

Hoping to get the car play etc set up this weekend!
