Evening all

I am thinking of replacing my 134k mile Discovery D4 with something newer.

Choice is between an approved S6 avant and an approved Q7. I do about 15k a year but split this with a 996, all are driven hard across rural countryside and city commutes. All go to the Alps in the winter a few times a year.

I am looking at running costs and reliability. What is the general consensus as they are both such good cars for very different reasons and so I think I am down to this question only.

Thanks!

Thanks. I should have said it’s a late model V8 but even on the test drive whilst it flew down the road, it took a while to respond to inputs. Though not as quick the Q7 was a bit better, late 18 plate with 270 odd ps. I guess it’s the more modern gearbox?

We also have a SQ5 bi turbo diesel and it’s the same, laggy when you put your foot down. My 996 tip is just instant go albeit not as fast.
