The bonnet opens fine but I have to push the handle back to get it to shut OK maybe because the cable outer has got a bit squashed up near the catch and the whole cable (inner and outer) could do with being replaced (made worse by the inner having lost a couple of strands when I took it out to lubricate it ...) so the question is how easy is it to fit a new cable? I note that it appears under the bonnet from a rubber tube thing so wonder if that goes all the way from inside the car or only at the outer bulkhead - in which case I might need to fiddle round with the trim - so any info about doing this?

Thanks for the info - I'll get one of the MGB cables as suggested.

Ps Thinking about the suggestion of an emergency cable - is there another way of opening the catch if there is a problem - I'd always though that maybe you could get at the catch from underneath (using a ramp) but then thinking about it the manifolds are in the way ....
