Hi,

Can anyone please tell me either the source, (Sierra cosworth?) or the part number for a CV joint on a 4.3 Precat.

Thanks SteveD

Sorry, After asking for advice I should have let people know what I did.

I spoke to Dave Mac & he was waiting for stock, he did quote a price a lot lower than the TVR specialists, but no good if he hasn't got any!

Prolinx were very good, they stock genuine GKN joints @ £55.95 + VAT each, and said that their high angle Lobro boot holders & boots were really too good (and expensive) for road use. I got the joints ( I decided that to replace just 1 joint on a shaft was probably a false economy) from them the next day.

TVR Power do a cv boot kit, which has the boot, grease & clips for £10 + VAT each, so I got those from them.

Doing it that way worked out cheaper than buying the lot from a specialist, but better, I thought than going with £25 specials off Ebay.

Changing the joints was fairly straightforward, my car has larger cap headed bolts fitted, & they came off ok, getting the shaft out from between the wishbones was a fiddle, I ended up marking the position of the top wishbone & then removing the bolt & that gave me enough room.

The circlips came off ok, but I was a bit surprised how tight the old joints were on the splines, considerable force required! Refitting was as they say the reverse, again the new joints were a tight fit onto the splines.

Anyway all done I took the car out, and was presently surprised that driveline shunting was no more, the joint must have been worse than I thought.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
