Hi all, I have a deposit down on a 430 and the only thing niggling me is the configuration of the engine bay. It looks like

No doubt a rover v8 but am I missing something or is everything normal for a 1993 430?All the other engine bays I've seen on here have the alternator to the left. The car may have had air-con if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance,Martin

Thanks for all the replies. Been away so could not reply.

The actual car is advertised as a 430. The engine looks like the wiki picture I put up and there is are some other unconnected leads.

I have not confirmed engine numbers but thanks for all the info and I will get back to the seller.

Thanks, Martin

Thanks for the invite to look at the car but it is being looked into for me by a well known TVR member.I will allow him to come back to me before posting again.

Just to make it clear the engine in the wiki may not be identical to what I have seen and I don't have an image to post as yet.
There may be some other odd bits on the wiki image, it was more the fact the engine in the car has two sets of belts and the alternator located high to the right of the bay.

Thanks, again

I have had some answers to my original questions so I thought I would run them past the masses.

The above image is the actual engine. You can see the position of the alternator is quite different from a normal set up.
On the left you can see a hose that is unconnected. This would have been the aircon that made the location change of the alternator necessary.

TVR power have confirmed the engine nos match the factory build. They would be supplied a 3.9l unit and then re-manufacture to a 4.3 and stamp with a second engine number that related to their build.
They are not sure about the aircon on such an early car(1993) but the car also has heated seats so the thinking is that it may have been a show car or a press car.

How does this sound?
