Interested in people's thoughts here. I've had "Grizzly" my Griff 500 15 years now and have to admit that since I got the Aston I've driven it less. So to rekindle my affection for him I'm thinking of a mild makeover.

Cosmetically I will have the nose and mirrors re-sprayed to get rid of the inevitable stone chips and think I will have the 7" headlamp upgrade done at the same time. Following this I will get the car professionally detailed.

As some of you may know, I did some mild tuning back in the early 00's - the usual stuff for the time; Tornado chip, ACT plenum, Jenvey throttles, bigger AFM, Bosch injectors, solid lifers/adjustable push rods, de pre-catted etc. Mark Adams got 320bhp and 325lb ft at Austec.

I must say at this stage that the car drives perfectly, no shunting at slow speed, pulls right through the rev range up to 6000 and accelerates hard but... I have often wondered if mapped ignition and coil packs would make it even better? Would I get more power & torque or is 320/325 about it anyway? Happy to spend the money on getting it set up (I believe Joolz is doing the Emerald K6 install) but don't want to create problems in an otherwise great car.

Thoughts? scratchchin

Another vote for Emerald and also for Joolz! Several years ago I put a Vitesse twin plenum on my 5.0L with a Lucas ECU + Tornado chip. Despite repeated visits to Mark A, it would never idle properly and was never a happy drive. Going to an Emerald, coil packs and wide band lambda and with Joolz waving his magic wand the car is now transformed. Making quite a few more horsepowers now as well. Oooh , and the pops and bangs .... loverly!
You see mine bangs like the sound heavy artillery a few miles distant over the rolling French countryside and idles too. So do I want to change anything? more power yes but it ain't broke so noting really to fix. biggrin
