Frayed edge on roof panel

Can anyone suggest a repair / temporary fix to a frayed edge on a roof panel edge? It can't be seen when the roof is up, so I just want to delay a retrim if I can.

It seems to have rubbed in the boot even with a cover on.

I was thinking of something that was black and ideally I could paint on that is thick and sets hard. Maybe a resin type compound but I am not sure.

1inch black gorilla tape seems to have worked surprisingly well ! And now metal in boot that was causing the damage is covered.
