Hi guys, further to recent queries regarding these panels and the need to replace them. I have now had discussions with one of my sources at a specialist architectural lighting company, they use all manner of plastics, and have CNC routing machines and digital surface screen printers. He can easily make them if I can provide a CAD file with external dimensions and the symbol layout on the back. He can do them in either the existing gloss acrylic or a non reflective type (might be a good option).

So, my plan is to source the symbols to drop into a CAD file, and then produce a design file for machining and printing. Will not be able to do this for a week or so, but am quite keen to move this along and therefore be able to provide them either with the dashboard kits or separately. The first step will be a prototype of each to evaluate. Shall keep you all posted. Regards, Pete

Pete, per email, absolutely put me on the list (for two of them please)
... whichever version looks best! smile

question.. do you know if they are different between the different dashes... like pre-cat and 500 dashes?
Hi Paul, will do. As far as I know and have see they are the same for all Griffs (that have that panel). Regards, Pete

Help Please! Has anyone got one of these panels they could loan me to get the design under way? Thought I had one in the garage, but after spending a lot of time looking can't find it anywhere. Many thanks, Pete

Pete to save you the trouble. Craig ( Green Meanie) did these a couple of years ago. Might be worth contacting him. I've got one of these in my Griff and its superb.

Hello Brian, Yes I had one as well back in 2014, actually fitted it to the prototype Griffith dashboard I developed. Believe a large number of people have been trying to contact him regards the resupplying of these panels, but to no avail! He seems to have disappeared. As I have the contacts and can design the panel, thought i easier to get them made my end for all those looking for one. Best regards, Pete

Pete, do you intend to make an alloy warning light panel to match your dashes, even if it might be some time away? If not, I might buy one of these, although I'd be much more keen if it had been designed to fit more securely and 'engineeringly'(!) than just glueing it in. It would also look better if it had the same or similar swirls to your dash.
Hello Glyn, thank you for your interest. I have been thinking, if I develop a CAD file for the plastic panel I could at some later stage actually incorporate the symbols into the aluminium dashboards (i.e. NO panel) and also make an aluminium after market panel, again for the aluminium dash's. Never know some people may want an aluminium one in a wooden dash! I must first find the time to develop a CAD drawing. Watch this space!

Hi Pete, I am def interested in the panel....any news yet about when you may have them available?
Hi SR, I am desperately trying to find my old panel to use as an example for devlopment, if not will have to go by the dimensions I have already from the dashboards. I also need to find the symbols used on the panels to import into CAD to create the black printed layer. My intention is to draw it up and then have them made from acrylic, CNC routed and screen printed on the back. Unfortunately the timescale is down to me developong the panel size and laying out the symbols. I already have a manufacturer lined up to make them! Will keep all posted as and when! Regards, Pete

Sounds like a lot of frustration here !. Why not try plumbers tape. £1.50. Can be fixed in 10 minutes, honest. I'm happy. Met a guy at Burghley who did it. Surprised him when I told him it was my idea. No patent fix !! Anybody interested will post topic from TVRCC forum. The best. Lol.
Hi Pen, its a great idea and it does work, but quite a few of these panels (like my old one) have the legend worn away or were damaged when removing them. I am trying to get them remanufactured to fit into new dashboards I produce. All the best, Pete

I don't wish to spoil the party Pete. I'm certain you can do a much better quality job as with your new dashboards. Since I need a new walnut veneer dashboard sometime this will do for me for now.

Ooo Pen, that dashboard does need replacement, don't hesitate to let me know if I can help. By the way the improvement to the panel is very good, in fact you have me thinking (dangerous I know), What if I have the panels made with a translucent white overlay screen print once the black background has been applied, therefore giving the same effect from the start? All the best, Pete

Hi guys, been over this morning to my contact to discuss the panels. No problems at all with manufacturing them, they have all materials in stock including a non reflective material instead of the gloss. they will be manufactured exactly as the original with the radius corners that will not only fit the existing old TVR dashboards but my re-engineered ones. Just waiting for a quote, have asked for breaks of 25, 50 and 100. Prices will of course depend on quantities. Will post price per panel.

Who would be interested? Please PM me!

I intend to offer them as an addition to the kit that can be supplied with dashboards!

Regards, Pete

I can probably supply these replacement panels for about £10 each plus postage! That would be for either the like for like gloss finish or an anti glare finish surface! Would all be CNC routed from 3mm acrylic and screen printed on the back just like the original. All the best, Pete

I have this morning committed to a batch of 30 gloss finish and 20 non-reflective finish panels, I envisage about a week to ten days. I have a waiting list of 20 (mixed finishes) from my dashboard 'customers' to satisfy, but will have spares for others that may be interested! Don't worry if you don't get one, now it is designed and a CAD file created I can have more batches made in future. regards, Pete

Hi Spike, no pics yet as I have only just ordered them after the design process. Needed to get an idea of numbers before committing. Will post a picture when they are done, hopefully a week to ten days! Regards, Pete

I have created a design and committed to having a batch manufactured. The hold up has been ensuring exact match to original. I rejected the first sample prototype, but all sorted now, just waiting for completion of batch hopefully by the end of next week. Regards, Pete

Hi David, have replied to your PM.

I do now keep a stock of these panels I recreated, as most people who have one of my dashboards want a panel.
