...... as title says my drive belt somehow today managed to do 180 deg flip on the pulleys/alternator and now nobly face facing the world, and smooth face on the pulleys .......

looking at it, new belt is def required as cloth bits can easily be pulled from it, belt look very loose but alternator is rock solid in position and needed bar extender to get leverage to loosen it......... hopefully something like a belt failure, and not a pulley out of alignment

Belt is probably about 4 years old........ was doing approx. 145mph when the odd noise started, and I then pulled over and realised what had happened...... gently nursed car back home after a day out, as didn't have a spare or spanners with me

On a private race track of course?
on my own private runway, which is part of my castle smile

if it isn't heat damage, I would check for signs of belt rubbing against chassis of swirl pot, as i had a similar issue when i had an engine mount fail.
I'll look into that, as would like to know why it happened....... cheers for the pointer
