GKN diff backlash
Discussion
Hi chaps,
I've got a clunk when taking up drive and coming off power, which I can provoke at will.
The prop is off and the UJs are ok
With the handbrake on we have when looks to be a lot of crow wheel backlash, so I've taken these 2 pictures to show just how much play there is - at a rough guess this is 10-12mm
does this look excessive and can it be adjusted by me or is it a trip to a specialist?

Now there is an idea.
Nothing should need renewing in this diff though, it was refurbished only 3 years ago and that equates to less than 10k miles.
Can someone still get the spacers made?
If only I could also get the pinion and crown too because I have my old diff sitting on the shelf.
IF I ever get some time I did plan to pull the old diff apart just to have a look at how they work. If I do that I might as well replace the bearings then if anyone ever finds new crown wheels and pinions I know I can do it.
