DARE ALLOY WHEELS
Discussion
Hi all.
Afraid I'm jumping on here from the Chimaera forum, hope you will forgive me......
I would like a set of BBS RS style wheels for my car, genuine would be great but....
I don't want to go mad and would like 162 front and 17" rear wheeels probably with 225/45 front and 245/40 rear tyres.
I've considered Lenso and Calibre wheels but the former always seem to be out of stock and the latter only available in 7x16 fronts. The other alternative are Dare wheels in 8x16 et25 and 8.5x17 et30.
I know there are a few Griffs around with these wheels and I just wondered what the general opinion was?
I've read stories about poor finish, caliper clearance issues and other nasties too. The Lensos seem tried and trusted but noone seems to have any idea on delivery. I realise none are as good as the genuine article but they are way out of my league price wise!
All thoughts appreciated.
Regards Chris.

I have to agree with Simon....
Whilst the genuine article would be lovely, a new set of BBS RS wheels is well over £3500 and they don't appear to be available in our sizes anymore. The Lensos are well respected and to most people look the same and whilst the purists will disagree, they seem a very cost effective option. Looking on their website reveals a huge state of the art manufacturing facility. The only downside are the plastic "bolts" that look a bit artificial but we can live with that!
To answer my original question, has anyone got any experience of DARE wheels on their TVR?
Your car looks lovely Simon....

Those Dare wheels do indeed look nice, I have thought about those myself.
The only downside is that they do not do a 16" rim and I am trying to avoid going to 17" wheels on the front as I personally think the tyres end up looking a little lost. My thoughts only!
As you say, refurbed the Revolutions would look good, not sure how the offsets would work though, especially on the rear.
