instrument panel clips: weld or glue?

Ended up welding the clips that had fallen off without suffering any distortion to the main face of the dash.
Also welded an m5 stud where one had failed.
This was done in bare metal state with veneer to follow,
fitting a refurbed dash seems to be all the rage at the moment but I've missed out on one of Pete's masterpieces.
Refitting the refurbed item without damaging the veneer or the vinyl surround covering is interesting work.
