My speedo started malfunctioning by only leaping into action at 20 mph & then stopped working at all after a month or two.
I changed the sensor for a new one & now it works again but only over 30 mph.
Any ideas?

Adjust the sensor to be about .3mm away from the toothed ring. May not fix it but worth a shot before investing in a new Speedo. Perhaps it's just a dodgy sensor. I had the same issue when I bought my car and a new sensor fixed it.
Paid £40 delivered for mine just a few months ago.
The guy who sold it to me sells them still. Should be able to track him down in the parts classifieds on here.
The sensor I got is more sensitive than the original.
Thanks Harvy.
I paid a lot more than that for my new sensor! Do you have the details of where you got yours from?
I'm sure my new one has the right gap to the toothed ring & so it may be the speedo itself although I think there's a module behind the dash which could be the culprit - any more ides anyone?

I think my sensor gap is set at 1.5 mm - is this correct?

If you have the silver rimmed dials (Caerbont) then 1.5mm gap is way to large, Harvy is correct with 0.3mm, if you have the black rimmed gauges (ETB) then 1.5mm is ok as thats usually 1-2mm
Thanks, that's a great help.
I've got the silver rimmed dials so I'll try narrowing the gap.
