I had a new heater valve fitted a couple of years back but the fans still always blow hot or even hotter lol. With the current heat it's really bad having hot air coming out the vents. Is there a trick to stop them blowing hot air all the time?

At the moment the motor is disconnected and have it marked so I can tell it is fully closed at the moment, but it's still Kicking out a lot of hot air and the pipework to the heaters is getting very hot still. Maybe I should try another new valve?

I did think about adding a simple on off valve from a mini as looks like a similar size hose, thought with 2 it might actually stop the water flowing lol.

I've managed to find the original part, or what mine was anyway lol. It was from a MK1 Golf, I bought mine from GSFcarparts.com and was the only £9.50 plus VAT, better than the £70 TVR wanted. You do have to drill and small hole it and chop it cut of the VW mounting but that takes only a few minutes. The old valve you could blow through even when fully closed but the new one seems air tight so hopefully water tight. I made sure it was fully closed but the fan still blow warm air, much better than the very hot air they were blowing before though.

This is the old heater valve

This is the new heater valve as it comes

This is the old and new heater valve after I drilled the hole and cut the end off, the hole in the centre also needs to be enlarged, I used a 4mm drill which did the job fine

Yes once you've drilled it and chopped the edge off then it's exactly the same as the original part so the motor will attach the same as it did before.

The GSF part number is 17850, when I replaced mine I used a couple of brake pipe clamps to make sure I didn't lose too much water, then ran the heaters on hot to make sure there was no air lock.

I took mine for a spin last night and it's not cool air but much better than it was before, now if I can get the air con working I'll be happy

Cheers Paul, good work.

Just ordered mine...though was more expensive than Seasider's....must find out where he goes for discount training

Will fit and see what difference it makes...mine certainly does not stop hot water coming through - may slow it but stop? NO.

Anyone know what the dash switches are from for the up/down control and outside air/recirculate? Mine just spin round without stopping

Virgil.

I think mine was about £16 inc post and packing so could also do with Seasider's training too. My up and down control also spins round without stopping so if you find the part number let me know

Well they must have given you a special price, or you ordered the wrong one lol, When it turns up you'll be moaning it doesn't fit
