Hi guys, please advise...

Disco 3 has developed a park brake fault. It started with the auto release when you set off not working and an Amber warning light coming on. An unwelcome side effect was that it was also slow to detect what gear it was in on the display on the dash and the reverse parking beepers not coming on either, presumably as it did not know it was in reverse. Last time this happened it was under warranty and it was apparently a sensor on top of the gear box that had to be replaced, meaning the (manual) gearbox and everything had to come out. We were also convinced by the main dealer that the clutch needed replacing at the time, which they did at cost with free labour as it was coming out anyway. This was about 20 months ago. It is now out of warranty by 18 months.

Today the fault has got worse, the EPB would not work at all and I had to use the manual release, using the jack handle to hook the cable loop and pulling, otherwise we'd have been stuck in a field! It is now on the drive left in gear, with no handbrake on at all. Wouldn't worry so much but it is the wife's daily driver and she is 7 month pregnant!

Has anyone else had trouble with theirs, if so, what's the problem and how much did it cost to get fixed?

Gunna have to get it fixed, as it wont go through MOT with all those warning lights on the dash etc. Fix then sell I reckon...sick of the £500 a year road tax anyway! Ironic as with a kiddy on the way it could have been more useful than ever!

Ha ha...fixed it thanks to free advice from Roberts country vehicles!
Find a straight traffic free road
Reverse, taking foot fully off clutch until the little R appears on the dash screen
Go into first until the 1 registers on the screen on the dash
Repeat all the way through into 6th gear
Stop. Turn ignition off. Lock doors. Un lock doors. Turn ignition on.
Problem solved!

EBP auto release now fully functional and all warning lights gone. Champion!

Only 62000 miles. Had the whole issue as described in the initial post once before, two years ago. Main stealer had gearbox out, flywheel and clutch repair kit also appeared on the paperwork, much of which was warranty work...surely clutch can't be on it's way again?
