There is no definitive answer on this subject so just looking for the thoughts of others.

Does the FL2 become the runt of the Land Rover family, suffering from plentiful supply and being a bit long in the tooth?

Or, as the Land Rover brand as a whole grows, and the Discovery Sport and Evoque are priced quite a bit higher, does it offer a more cost effective way into the brand and stay desirable.

I have one, and as an overall package I think it's pretty good. The only thing I want and miss is an automatic gearbox. Trade-in value for my car has taken a real dip over the last 6 months, but retail prices (on the windscreen anyway) seem rock solid - something doesn't add up!

Thoughts on how part-ex values and dealer stock prices/availability will go folks?

I've not seen any discounts actively advertised for the FL2, there's finance deposit contributions but they've been around forever.

My thoughts were that the Discovery Sport in a decent spec being the thick end of £40k might not affect FL2 values at all as they aren't competitors and will perhaps appeal to different markets?

I'm torn, either way cost to change is king, but do I take a small hit on my part-ex now and get a good deal on a run-out whilst dealers are pushing them, or wait until the DS is launched and values fall, thereby getting a lower part-ex value...decisions, decisions.

Ive just bought an unregistered FL2 Metropolis to replace our faithful 56 reg SE.

The car suits our needs better than the newer car and secured about 13 percent off list. I got above book on a trade in on the old car, so all in all, a good deal.

. Looking through Autotrader, there are still some huge prices being asked for series 1 Freelanders, especially as Autumn looms large.

My own assessment is that values of good spec cars, and all the later cars seem to be pretty well equipped, will stay firm
Cheers for this, it's just what I wanted to hear - discounts off new cars and decent part-ex offers :-)

I'm in the same boat, happy with my FL2 but would like an autobox and would take the opportunity to go for a high spec model to get a pano sunroof and decent sound system as that's lacking on the lower trim levels.

. I suspect some canny buyers of the new car will wait for the more efficient engines to become available.
The canny buyers maybe, but look at the typical person driving around in an SUV, I reckon they probably couldn't tell you how many cylinders are under the bonnet or what the displacement is.

I must be taking after my old man as I'd rather the tried and tested 2.2 in low stress 150ps TD4 form than a highly strung 2.0 in a big heavy car!

In terms of the FL2 I think I'm going to look into the Metropolis or HSE and see if an attractive deal can be had, had an XS spec loaner last week and as I have a few options on my GS it seems like £3k for built-in sat nav isn't worth it, may as well take the next step up and get all the luxuries.
