New Evoque... mpg difference to old Evoque

Picked up a second Evoque (3 years after the first) for Mrs Get today. It had been my only LR that never ever broke down, hence a re-buy. Was pretty astounded by the difference in mpg today, having moaned about the first one. I know the journey well (68 miles) and was getting 36 mpg on the first version, even when run in. No idea what they did - It pulls the same - but even new, and out of the box, it managed 43+ mpg. Distance to empty when full now gives 90 miles more. Good work LR! (Range is important here).
Other differences: Smaller wing mirrors (good - old ones far too big), and if the air bags go off, the emergency services are called automatically and GPS location sent. Button also added to do same.
...oh, and a free app which tells me stuff about car... location/fuel/stolen etc when anywhere in the world. Like I needed another app. Still.

Hmmm, I'm not sold on that. Can see plenty of false alarms and unnecessary attendances. Do the blue light crowd attend auto-initiated calls without full details of the incident? Airbag initiation doesn't always mean Plod/Holby/Trumpton are required. Still, I guess setting the wheels in motion and then up or down grading is no bad thing.
