Heated screen broken - insurance claim?

My range rover has a heated screen except it hasn't. At best a 2" wide strip works right next the the drivers side pillar.
I imagine there are a coupe of hips but nothing much.
So assuming all the fuses work it must just be the screen, its probably the original. Would an insurance co allow it to be changed just because it doesn't work?
I imagine even with minor changes to costs it would still be cheaper than paying for it myself.
Anyone done it?
