gather the Euro6 emissions become mandatory on all new cars after September 2015?

heard that this means the end of the 4.4 V8 TD as it cannot meet the new emission requirements

options after this date will be the 3.0 V6 TD/5.0 V8 petrol and the 'new' hybrid?

anybody know if I'm correct or has more details?

Yeah it will be phased out unfortunately with a big push towards the hybrid which allegedly offers similar performance albeit with the combined electricity and 3.0 engine.

Not sure if it would be for me though and I'm not bringing myself to drive a 3.0 RR so it maybe 5.0SC or look elsewhere.

JLR.......Range Rovers should have at least V8 motors!

Major oversight imo.
glad I bought a 4.4 V8 TD - they may well be 'collectors' cars?

gather the hybrid is plus £20K?

given LR and new technology I'd run a mile before buying a new hybrid

next time i'll buy the 5.0 supercharged

btw had a look at your 'garage' - mine's Nara Bronze as well - but the 'gills' have been colour coded and the trim strip is in Dark Atlas

Nice! Theres at least 2 of us with Naras now! Pretty exclusive club as I don't know about you but I don't think Ive ever seen another 405 in that colour on the road.

My only regret was not going for a silver roof as well which in hindsight I wish Id specced as it would have given a top to bottom consistency with the atlas swage colour.
never seen another L405 in Nara - so as you say its an exclusive club

to me (and obviously you) it looks simply understated class - and 'class' membership is closed as LR in their wisdom have deleted Nara Bronze?

just taken my car to main dealer for warranty work and asked him about the hybrid

they have not sold one nor had any enquiries

BUT

apparently the battery pack lasts for ten years and then costs £10K to replace!!

as an aside was given a brand new Disco SE (359 miles on the clock) as a courtesy car - not impressed at £40K+

that amount of money would buy a really nice L322 Range Rover

The hybrid is instantly dated when you compare it against the likes of what Tesla offer.

Not sure what the answer is...The V6 diesel is a no go / backwards step for me and yes I've driven one.
totally agree

the V6 is so much a lesser car than the V8

cue V6 owners..................

No Dynamic Response on the L405 hybrid either.
and that is the 'killer'

plus of course the price premium for the hybrid

On the Hybrid, no you do not get the V8 lovely noise.

But what you DO get is performance.

When you press the loud pedal, both motors really do give you very good turn of speed.

I drove to Portsmouth in one at 95 ish and a heavy foot, and it returned 32mpg.

Dunno if thats good compared to the V6?
honestly - buying cars in this price range fuel consumption is not exactly an issue?
