Discovery 3 Gear Box Fault
Discussion
Hoping someone can help.
My mate has a Discovery 3 with an Auto gear box, and he says that periodically, but becoming more frequent, the car seems to slip out of gear whilst moving, he describes it by saying if it was a manual, he would say the clutch is slipping.
I drive an S Type Jag which has the same 2.7 V6 engine, and I know that a lot of Jag gear box problems (fitted with a so say sealed for life gear box, but most know it needs an oil change to extend the gear box life) seem to do with oil, change the oil and the problem disappears. I appreciate that although the engine block is the same in my Jag, the gear box will be very different.
Can anyone offer any suggestions to if an oil change may help, or is this problem more serious?
Any help appreciated.
