Pondering on this for sometime later this year, with a 100 mile a day commute (mostly motorways, but they can and do grind to a halt at times, so no real opportunity for serious schlepping, although I do like to take advantage of any overtaking opportunities when they present themselves) and weekend dog carrying/tip runs/odd weekend away, would an RRS or Vogue be suitable?

Really only looking at TDV8s, as I could take the 20mpg (at best) of a V8, nor the lack of grunt in the TDV6.

I had a supercharged vogue for 2 years which I put 65k miles on. Cost me a fortune in fuel but if a lorry hadn't sideswiped it I'd still be using it. Best car I ever owned for that sense of comfort and do anything at anytime anywhere. Make sure you get an inspection on it before you purchase it though as they aren't cheap to fix.
Thats a LOT of miles!! and even more ££££s... :gulp:

Is there really a big difference in handling between the two?

Oh thats a good shout thanks for the heads-up.

From what I've seen, I'd agree that the Vogue is a better car inside, and if you can drop the ride that much, then it becomes by far the better bet - I wasn't that impressed by the RRS and having to move the drivers seat forward to get the rear load space flat: meant I couldn't get comfy in the front again.

If I'm right, its about a £2k save between similar TDV8s and V8 SCs, and fuel would be £2500 a year more, so its a close thing. TBH, I'm only planning on keeping for a year, to see if I get on with it, then swap for the next to minimize mileage-led depreciation. Decisions, decisions....
