I've got a 2012 RRS and I'm really quite unimpressed with the quality of the satnav. The map detail is sparse and the traffic annotation is not overly accurate or even there at all. And the ability to search and scroll is almost prohibitively useless.

I've been using Google maps on my android phone in my other car recently, and its such a different experience. The maps detail is perfect, and the traffic is almost pinpoint accurate and upto date. When I go back to the RRS, its like stepping back in time a couple of decades. Sometimes I actually sit the smartphone up against the RRS screen and use that instead.

I'm looking to buy a new RRS next year, and I'm hoping the situation has changed and the satnav experience in the new model has been brought upto date? Can anyone comment on the difference between the two, or indeed against other brands? I'm half thinking of a new Q7, as that has Google maps integrated.

Exactly the same as your 2012MY one albeit on an 8 inch screen!
Are you serious? Oh dear oh dear. Is there any plan to update it any time soon?

16MY I.e ones built today have complete ICE overhaul including InControl apps with uprated Sat Nav etc etc
Now this is what I want to hear. How is the functionality of this 'uprated' satnav and control apps?

The only difference with the 16MY system is a revised user interface and home screen. The system is exactly the same. InControl Touch is NOT present in 16MY RR and RRS vehicles.

The screen resolution is higher on vehicles which do not have Dual View technology.
I had a quick read online of Incontrol Touch which seems to be coming out with the new Evoque; shame its not going on the RRS just yet. It will be interesting to see the change for the RRS. I guess my main issue is with the poor visual traffic information; but I guess that most manufacturers are the same as they have limited data to work with. GoogleMaps is in a league of its own in this respect, and once you've used it for any length of time, its difficult to accept the step backwards to manufacturer versions.

I wonder if they'll introduce Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (as per a number of other makes) functionality?
Tthen you can use your phone integrated to the inbuilt screen to circumvent the poor LR sat nav.
