Basically my RRC looks like its gone pop !!!

Thinking about new engine, been contemplating turner, rpi 4.6, je 4.6 or tvr 5.0 ( not necdecarily the best option)!

Has anyone done this ? Any advice ?!

Blimey !!!

I wasn't quite thinking AM V12 but what a conversion.

Neen looking at rover 4.6's and 4.8's seems to be lots of people doing them some with a good reputation some with a bad reputation.

Best two seem to be Turner engineering and ACR

Anyone know either of them ?

Thanks

Yep thinking another rover v8 will be the best call, just seems a shame to put another 3.9 in when a 4.8 is circa £1.5k more.

Going to keep original engine if it's ever sold on so it can go back to matching numbers.

We have lots of cars and a defender 50th keeps the RRC company.

We have had all the range rovers including the new one and one sport which we didn't really like.

Do a fair few miles so a fast Audi is much nicer than our old L405.

I know the right answer is probably the 3.9 but it just seems such a shame not to update a bit !

I always wanted a TVR 5.0 in a RRC or defender ... Until I realised the torque curve was all wrong !!

I've got a 6.3 Overfinch classic and a 4.9 Defender (auto)

The Overfinch is possibly the most frightening thing I have driven apart from, perhaps, a Sagaris with a quicker differential.
I absolutely love it and would have no hesitation in recommending a Classic with a bit more power.

The defender is reasonable and can now easily keep up with normal traffic around it.
Wow serious stuff !! Is the overfinch the green LWB one ?

Is it a rover engine in the defender ? Sorry for all the questions !

Thanks, sounds like a great pairing.

I also have a defender v8, one of the defender 50th's.

4.0 v8 with auto box and twisted suspension, great fun !

Thanks

The handling must have been ..... Interesting !!!

Think I have decided on an ACR 4.8i, gas flowed heads / BIg valve with a new Ecu.

And to keep the original matching number engine to one side once rebuilt.

Need to find someone to fit in the Berkshire area who I trust ! Had so many bad experiences !!

( I do however reserve the right to change my mind !!)

I've got a Range Rover CSK that had a 300BHP 4.6 in it, just taken stage 3 heads off it and gone back to standard heads/injection in preparation of selling it, left the 4.6 and camshaft in there though. Handling was taken care of with lowering springs, bilstien dampers, poly bushes and 18" wheels (same as sold by twisted for their defenders). Went pretty well.

I'm about to put another 4.6 into a 4 door classic with the stage 3 heads and a torque bias cam, should be quite nice for towing smile
Interesting, which engines are they i.e. RPI, Turners ?

Were they reliable ?

Have seen your CSK its absolutely lovely, needed some work though !!

Sorry for all the questions I may have more !!!

Thanks

Perfect thanks for the info.

You don't want to take a 60k mile, 2 owner, 91 Vogue SE in part ex for the CSK ? No Mot advisories but will need new head gaskets or engine !!!

Had £4.5k spent on it recently :-) but always love your CSK !!

Have been speaking to Lloyd developments, they seem very knowledgeable and they use ACR ( which was my preference)

I am not that mechanically minded / have no time so having someone who can sort the whole thing would be great

Are you looking to sell the TVR engine once rebuilt ?
