My first freelander 2 test drive

Having just done a 5 hour round trip to a dealer to see a 2009 fl2 hse
Nice car well specced 67k two owners
Now the bad points
full service record but second owner has just used local mot station for servicing
The car has a slight pull when driving and vibration from the front right (all probably sort able)
The big one now, at all times there was diff noise inside the cabin coming from the rear. When i pointed this out it was "explained to me" that the rear tyres had different tread depths and a new set of tyres would stop the noise. Has anyone ever heard such a thing??
all modes of 4x4 selected and worked, no noises on full lock and nothing on breaking

The dealer said he would sort but wanted £1k deposit, i envisaged the situation where i said there was a noise and they said not.
I just moved on, looking to buy monday at auction
