What method(s) are the best for getting people to visit your

So far i am hammering Facebook, instagram and twitter. The cars getting wrapped on wednesday with a car specific discount code on it. I've got 1500 flyers coming to offer to local people, again with a local discount code on. Any other methods? I've promoted my FB page and website on FB for a couple of days just to see if it actually works.

After checking your site, your products are well priced, (Lishinu 3m Retractable Bungee Lead) is cheaper than amazon, and even the bigger online pet stores. Anyway you can get on those price comparison sites? I dont have a clue about how much that costs though and may then increase prices etc.
Also as a potential customer, whats the delivery rates etc, i always have a we check on a delivery page when im shopping, if i cant find it i instantly think "The delivery will be loads, no thanks" when in reality it wont, im just to lazy to go via checkout. (for example i just went on a worse looking site than yours for dog beds but their is an instantly noticeable £4.95 flate rate delivery sign, making me look at dog beds lol)
Also work on your google rankings (have zero clue) but i even searched your name and cant find you on the first few pages and gave up.
If not im sure i just added to your advertising by telling everyone here i price checked your stuff and they should click your name and visit your site lol
I have realised there is no mention of delivery cost (it is free) so thats something to add on to probably the listings?Also as a potential customer, whats the delivery rates etc, i always have a we check on a delivery page when im shopping, if i cant find it i instantly think "The delivery will be loads, no thanks" when in reality it wont, im just to lazy to go via checkout. There is no point hammering anything until you actually finish the site - I would say its 60 / 70% done.So far i am hammering Facebook, instagram and twitter. I am aware its not the most technically advances website in the world but what would you say shouts out and says unfinished? I'd appreciate the feedback as this is the first time i have ever done anything like this!
My new site is far far from finished it went live last week! I'm furious with the webby but look at the charter, the company info, about us, put some soul into it some depth - also your illegal as no trading address etc hotchy said:
Have a returns section, delivery section, about us (youve tried to add that to news but its not news..) do you have a privacy policy?(most sites seem to have that..) contact us page? Just makes it look more professional.
Yeah ive just been looking at some competitors websites and i think that is something i need to get sorted asap. MentalSarcasm said:
Have you tested it to ensure it's mobile friendly? Google now penalises sites that use templates which don't adapt to phone/tablet browsing.
I'd also work on your descriptions a bit more so they're easier for people to find. As an example;
http://homeandbarker.com/collections/bedding/produ...
Your description for this currently says;
Delicately beautiful floral design. Catherine Lansfields Annabella range is a subtle way to add some colour to any bedroom.
You need to think about what search terms people will be using to look for a duvet set. I'd certainly ensure that you keep the "Catherine Lansfields Annabella range" bit, as people may indeed search by the designer and range, but "Delicately beautiful floral design" is not something I'd type in when searching for a duvet set.
I'm not great at descriptions by any means, but a more suitable one may be something along the lines of;
"This duvet set, from the Catherine Lansfields Annabella range, features a pink rose pattern across a white and duck egg blue background, embellished with white lace. This set comes in four sizes, including matching pillowcases." Keep the sizing underneath as that's important. Also I know it's obvious that all duvets are machine washable, but I'd stick "Machine Washable" in the description lists as well, just to make it 100% clear to potential buyers.
I'd also start planning out blog posts now as you'll soon find it's been 2 months since you last wrote one, I now plan mine months in advance and get them written 3 weeks before I want to post them. In my case they do a remarkably good job of bringing people in to my website so they're essential, for the time being you may want to experiment to see what works with bringing people in and what doesn't.
Good luck!
Cheers for the reply. Currently getting told how to add delivery sections etc by the nice people at shopify. I think I've got to learn and a lot to change, just wanted to get the bloody thing open. I think i can tackle all the things that everyone brought up before wednesday when the car goes in!I'd also work on your descriptions a bit more so they're easier for people to find. As an example;

Start a you tube channel and do some videos, how to put a duvet cover on would appeal to me, washing techniques all the stuff you think doesnt matter does add up to a good experience.
If you use google analytics analyse your basket to buy % as if you get say 500 people adding to basket and only 10 buying you dont need traffic you need a better checkout.
I like stuff like
When will it come - answer
What if its the wrong size - answer
what if I am out - aanswer
what if I change my mind - answer
what if it breaks or rips - answer
the more clarity you convey the less buyer anxiety you cause and the more likely of an order
add ZOPIM live chat as well with messages to your smart phone
I have just had a switch around on the footer. Now prepped and ready for me to write all the delivery, return and company info stuff later. With regards to the youtube channel.. I don't even know how to put on a bloody duvet cover! So you might be onto to something there.
Right i seem to have figured out the footer now and have added delivery info etc, if i have missed anything obvious please let me know.
Next job is get the descriptions more searchable. Job the Mrs that one!
It might be stressful and a pain in the arse but if it does all work out i will know I've built it up with my own hands!

Blogging is puerile crap that us seldom read in full unless your interesting and I doubt the towels will do it but the pet stuff should do well with examples of doggy based ecstasy when given a specific chew etc
Thats my thinking. I have two very cute puppys which have been quite usefull on instagram. Im going to get a few toys i sell and maybe invest in a half decent camera and probably use the blog for dog purposes. I struggle to write a desription for a duvet set nevermind a blog!DSLiverpool said:
Also just my opinion but pet and home stuff shouldn't share a site when you grow your business
I understand partly what you mean by that. Im being picky about what dog stuff i put on. Avoiding the flea treatments and pooper scoopers! Focusing on high quality decent toys and coats etc. A quarter of the UK's households have a dog so why not have them on, gives me abit of individuality.MentalSarcasm said:
A lot of hits that come to my website via my blog are my book reviews, so I think product reviews are probably your best bet, especially in the case of your pets! You could also include the occasional article about local areas you find are good for walking your dogs, or highlight any news articles about pet ownership that you think are interesting and want to add your own perspective.
You don't need to blog every day (I certainly don't). Once a month or so should be fine, I blog more frequently simply because I enjoy it
Yeah i will probably find it easier to blog about dog related thing as im passionate about the little buggers. Think i will re write my descriptions for the bedding over the next week as suggested above. Thanks for all your help everyone.You don't need to blog every day (I certainly don't). Another thing i noticed. Im shopping away on your site, how was i to know you had a shower curtain under a certain towel range? Just seems random to me. Cant you just have them as all seprate products so i can see what im looking for? Im like it in high street shops, i wont look through rails of clothes, i want it infront of me, on display and easy to see.
Bath towels and i find a hidden toilet bath matt thing. Again, why not seprate, and easily seen in your bathrom section?
Catherine Lansfield - hand towel £price (own picture)
Catherine Lansfield - Face towel £price (own picture)
Not hidden in a drop down menu, which imo should only be used for colour choices of that same product.
Yeah the way i have put stuff on does need a little rearranging. I am going to add some drop down menus to the header so its a little clearer. Just had 50,000 things to do. Amazon, ebay and website all done in a month! Bath towels and i find a hidden toilet bath matt thing. Again, why not seprate, and easily seen in your bathrom section?

It's certainly a strange mix of products.
Duvet covers and dog leads are not something I'd associate normally.
I know but why not try something new. As i said, 25% of the UK's households have atleast one dog and we are a dog nation. If i am in tesco doing a quick shop i always go down the dog aisle to see what i could bring home.. surely i am not the only one to do that. So if a dog owner is on my site and they see the dog section you never know they might get tempted. I am trying to keep them both relatively separate but oh well you may swell give it a go!Duvet covers and dog leads are not something I'd associate normally.
