Just a warning to others that HSBC has has a "global failure" in its BACS payment system...I have 45 not too happy employees waiting to be paid.
We are told it should be up and running by midday but I am already putting a plan B together just in case.

not sure about that. If they use the BACS system then I think so .CHAPS payment system appears unaffected...we paid some suppliers yesterday and there is no problem with those payments.

Just had to ring HSBC as they could nt be bothered to ring me ! I am now being told payments should be made by the end of play today. Not having any faith in HSBC's ability or commitment to resolving the issue my FD is making alternative arrangements to pay our employees by same day CHAPS later today.

Just checked at 4pm none of my employees have be paid. HSBC cannot tell me when the wage payments will be made. I have been told to inform my employees that if they are in money difficulties to inform their own banks who will be aware of the situation and will offer facilities to cover the Bank Holiday period... I suspect the problem is bigger than we think and itlooks like payment may not go through over the weekend.

It gets worse....one my guys has talked to his Bank Barclay's telling them of the issue. Barclay's have no facility organised to offer overdraft faciliites to cover the bank holiday. We are now transferring emergency money to our guys as HSBC as telling us the wages may not be paid today.
