Looking at ordering around 500 business cards from here;

https://www.instantprint.co.uk/business-cards/clas...

They are double sided, one side is black with a fairly colourful but simple logo with company name underneath in white

(Above is a screenshot taken from a thumbnail so quality looks poor)

On the back is the usual Name/Title/Email/Address etc. White with orange watermark.

Glossy or Matt finish?

I'm thinking glossy?

Am I wrong?

I like the spot UV a lot but it gets a lot more expensive and there's 6 of us needing them so circa 3,000 cards.

I certainly won't be using Vista Print!

I'm thinking a nice glossy card using good quality 450gsm paper?

My thinking was that matte may preserve the card? I've seen plenty of black cards that seem to have the edges scuffed.

Spot UV over graphics isn't really recommended within the industry as the UV varnish is applied using a screen printing process & registration with print can vary by 2 mm. This means you can expect the Spot UV element to move around the page by up to 2 mm! And in my experience, this is the case.

Spot UV varnish is more effective when used as a pattern or to create the logo/graphic itself.

Alex you want matt laminate, 400gsm silk artboard & there's even luxury 'soft touch' now too!
Cheers Tom, I went for 450gsm silk artboard but with a glossy laminate, sorted it yesterday.
