Please forgive numpty questions as this isn't my area of expertise and way out of my comfort zone.

After doing a mate a favour and making a prototype using a 3D printing company I have a idea for a new product, based on the feedback I have received it may have legs or at least its worth exploring other production methods as the 3D printing is slow and fairly expensive at £19 a pop and see whats viable in terms of quality product.

From my research there seems to be a number of different methods of producing plastic products in volume such as thermo forming and vacuum forming, which on the face of it looks ideal for small to huge production runs.

Would either of these techniques be suitable for creating plastic cases for electronic devices, where the plastic is pretty robust at protecting the devices?

Also I assume that you can get plastics in CMYK colours? as well as textures such as Carbon fibre etc???

Any help is most gratefully received.

how many do you want to make?

the costs of tooling up and troubleshooting quickly ramps up.
Plucking a figure out of the air, couple of hundred to start off with, I don't want to end up with a garage full of plastic if the idea is a dead duck.

Is the tooling done in Aluminium?

I have ordered a CNC mould in wood using my STL file to have a play at home and that is costing me £12 shipped.
