Quick contracting questions
Discussion
I want to get back into contracting. Just wanted some advice from the collective.
I've worked one previous contract, which was initially for six months. The contract was terminated early (client abandoned project).
1. How often does this happen? I'd hate to start somewhere then get booted out after a month (we'll assume that I don't get booted because I'm no good!)
I'm not having much luck finding an agency that will put me forward as I have 4 weeks notice period (currently in a perm role).
2. My thinking is to resign THEN find a job - or are there companies out there that will wait four weeks? Recruitment agents seem to think this is unlikely.
3. I'm searching jobserve, jobsite and monster, any others worth looking at? I work as a LAMP senior developer.

Skillset is PHP, up to PHP 5 with good OO skills, MySQL server admin including optimisation/db design, Linux server admin. About 8 years experience with all these things.
I don't think the agents are messing about, because they call me based on my CV, then go into great depths about the role, only to go quiet when I say "4 weeks notice". Then the intake of breath and dejected tone is noticable
