I have been sounded out about a very good job opportunity, having been identified through good performance in my current employment. The job is significantly more senior than my current one, and is a management role. I have no management experience and it seems that this may prove to be a stumbling block. I am very keen on the job, but do appreciate that it is a big step up. Im confident that I can perform in the main aspect of the role, but appreciate my lack of experience in the management aspect.

I appreciate there's no replacing real-life experience, but I can't get that in the timescales I have, so...

Has anyone been on a training course that would be recommended for someone in my position, with training for new managers, giving lessons in managing people in the workplace, management/motivation techniques etc?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I think you are probably right Doctor Matt, and I am also of the view that the majority of this type of learning is better done outside of the classroom. However, with a view to getting this job, I was hoping to suggest a few well-known, established courses they could send me on to make up (to some extent) for my lack of experience. I believe I have the ability to take the job on, but I think my lack of experience may just stop them from choosing me.

Thanks for the advice, and good luck.
