My virgin deal is almost up. I was going to go to sky to watch sports and movies, however my friend is telling me to get Apple TV and a Netflix account.

So PH wise, tell me about Apple TV, is it really good or am I better off with sky?

Depends entirely on what you are using. I use various apps in order to get UK TV on my apple TV. Filmon being one of them. The resolution will entirely depend on the quality of the stream you are sending to it.

Alternatively, you could just connect a laptop to the Tv, and watch through that. I have done that in the past and used a 'remote' on my ipad to control it, be it a mouse, file manager, etc.
Would you mind if I drop you a pm tonight with a few questions?

Is that only possible (jailbreak) on Apple TV 1 + 2? I'm reading that the 3rd gen is impossible to jail break?
I'd like to be able to watch those sports in hd if possible?
