ETA - Just thought I'd mention this thread was originally titled for the Z1 Compact but is now morphing in to a Z3 Compact thread. smile

Looking to replace my Galaxy Note 2 with this phone. Given up on my Nexus 4 due to its woeful battery life. I doubt the Nexus 5 will be any better.

Basically looking for a top spec compact-ish phone with excellent battery life, which the Z1C seems to fulfil.

Anybody got this phone and care to share their experiences with it so far?

Seems like a no-brainer at £372 (just been an Amazon price drop, they'll refund the difference to that which I paid earlier today smile ) for a top end smartphone (apart from the screen, which is still 720p FFS biggrin ) compared with £500+ for the M8 et al!

I had a play in CPW earlier. It's a lovely device, although the flaps might get on my tits after a while.

Ooh . . . shiny shiny thing delivered.

I won't take it out in to the wild until one of the cases arrives which may not be until next week grrrr!

What a cracking little device! All that I wanted really. Battery life using STAMINA mode appears to make it the equal at least of my Note 2, trouncing my Nexus 4!

Cases have arrived over the last couple of days. Used in anger for the first time today.

Excellent sound quality (through buds), which was an important consideration given the vast majority of use will be in the gym or walking out and about listening to Spotify Premium downloads or TuneIn Radio.

Welcomely (may not be a real word biggrin ), speedier and more responsive than recent phones, as you'd expect.

Earlier today I downloaded London Grammar via Amazon Cloud player app, and I've just 'thrown' it to my Panny vt50 which is pretty cool. What I didn't expect was to be able to 'throw' it to my Sonos Play devices. Now that really is cool!!

Only downside is the reduction in screen size which means my 45 year old contact lensed eyes struggle sometimes to read stuff. Hey ho. I can live with that for the time being.

Highly recommended.

This is REALLY annoying. . .

On other devices not a problem but on my Compact I can find no way of getting PH to display in Desktop view rather than mobile no matter what I try. I've installed opera, opera mini, as well as the default chrome. I can't force PH to display in desktop, using the available menu options. Even using the Desktop link on the mobile PH homepage fails to work!! Grrr . . .

Any ideas?

Sorted the mobile / desktop conundrum. smile

I ordered a magnetic charging cable. Wasn't sure the official dock was worth £20!

As onlynik suggested I had to change the url, but shouldn't have to really what with the menu options and the desktop link on the PH homepage not working (for me).

I did actually stump up for the dock and annoyingly I can't charge with the slimline terrapin case I bought with the phone, so I have to take it off which is a pain!

Am I missing a trick?!

When I place the phone in the Sony magnetic dock the home screen turns to landscape mode.
Is there a way of doing this when not in the dock?

Slide your finger from the top - from Quick settings there is a toggle for Auto-Rotate - if not there select edit and add the button....
Auto-rotate has always been on, it's just the home screens don't, except when in the charging cradle. . . which is annoying!

Reluctantly I may have to ditch the phone for a larger screened model as my eyes are struggling to make out text even with playing around with font sizes etc and I refuse to buy my first pair of reading glasses! smile. Off to book an eye test.

Soooo. . . fancy getting the updated Z3 Compact! Having always had black/grey phones seriously tempted by either the green or mandarin (red) versions.

Clove appear to have stock, at a very low price and apparently ahead of the scheduled release date. Am I missing something here, never having bought from Clove before!

Thanks, just seen the handtec price. Looks as though the green version isn't available sim-free, so looks like mandarin then. . . . or back to black. . . decisions decisions.

^ I thought that might happen! biggrin sorry.

A red/mandarin/orange (depending who you ask) Z3C should be in my mitts tomorrow morning, courtesy of Handtec. Will make a change from all my previous greyscale devices.

A headsup for anyone ordering sim free, the Z3C requires a nano-sim so you might need to get an adapter if like me you switch between phones every now and again.
