iphone 4s unlocking on EE

Folks,

My Wife has a phone on EE & recently got a giff gaff SIM. We've foolishly transferred the number to giff gaff, but have forgotten that the phone is locked to EE. Looking on the web & on EE's site, this seems to be advertised as a lengthy process (20 days & £20), and the various forum posts I've seen show that Its a total nightmare, taking weeks of hassling (i.e much much longer than the 20 days)

Has anyone actually gone through this and seen if it's really 20 days or much longer or much shorter?

I did it through EE on a iPhone 4, was easy but it did take 2 weeks for the unlocking email to come though.

Thanks, We phoned this morning and apparantly we've been put in a "priority" queue and it will take ~2 days - we'll see
