1) I don't have a smartphone so don't know how much of that stuff works
2) Mrs Pop has a Galaxy Y, but she's not at all technical.

So, she has this phone which apparently has remained connected to the Internet for hours and hours, causing some big charges. She doesn't know how this is happening. She only uses it for a couple of minutes at a time to check emails/weather etc.

My understanding is that it either connects to our home wireless Internet when she's within range, or uses the gsm network when she's out.

What is she doing wrong? Does she need to do anything to actually disconnect? She currently presses the 'back' button when she's finished what she's doing. Should she be pressing the big middle button after doing emails or anything else?

I'm sure this is a very dumb question. frown

Thanks mate. How does she turn off wireless when she's not home?
Plus, I don't know if she has data on her tariff, why do you ask?

Turned off data services ok, thanks.

However, that now means presumably that the Internet won't connect unless she's at home? Does she need to connect data services/disconnect every time she picks up email or does anything else needing Internet when she's on the road?

I just don't understand why there are these long connection times. Surely everybody doesn't enable/disable data services continuously?

Confused.... Appreciate your help guys.
