Evening.

I have BT Broadband at home, not the Infinity stuff as it's not available on my exchange. Speedtest.net consistently gives me 15-19Mb/s. I live in a small village with a largely elderly population, so I don't seem to suffer much in the way of slow-down in the evenings.

If I stream from Youtube, Sky Go or iPlayer I get a consistent video stream, with no issues. If I use any less main-stream video providers I get a stream that consistently drops frames, so the picture is very jerky and I get gaps in the sound, though that is generally smooth until it stops completely. The connections do not time-out at all. When I look at Ethernet usage in Task Manager it shows the connection to be very erratic eg:

The stream also manages to slow other internet tasks down dramatically, though using iPlayer or Youtube doesn't have this effect either.

I've tried over WiFi, over cable, on my phone, on a couple of different laptops, all have exactly the same issues. I've tested the main stream I use at other houses, where it works perfectly.

All the indications are that it's a BT issue. Has anyone else had similar or know anything I can do to get things working properly? It's starting to really annoy me now!

Got any more details? Not tried torrents, just streaming TV from sites in Dubai.

I don't have issues with the same websites at other places at the same time of day. One of the sites has a live chat forum, other users report prefect streams while I'm struggling. It's the same issue across all sites except iPlayer, Sky Go and Youtube, so I can't see that the issue lies anywhere other than BT. I'm running some tests now that are supposed to identify shaping and throttling of traffic, so will report back....
