Apple Mouse and Wireless Keyboard - Batteries

How come these seem to last only about 2 weeks. Use Duracell so not some cheap old ste.
I seem to be constantly getting messages about low battery life.
I don't turn them off at night but really ........

Wireless mouse and keyboard with my 2011 IMAC. Mouse is much worse than the keyboard admittedly but comments here suggest it's not right.
