sony z2 v lg g3

I'm in the same boat. There may be a new G3 version though:http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g3_variant_sporting_a_snapdragon_805_soc_may_be_in_the_works-news-8776.php
Or do you wait for the Samsung Note 4?: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_4_scre...
Or save money and buy a nexus 5 from carphone Warehouse for £250?

The Sony is great and the waterproofing is a plus. The g3 is, I am reliably informed, better on pretty much every level. Launches in July 1st so I am waiting for it before I decide but the g2 was superb, nexus phones have been great and I am hearing that the G3 is further ahead of the game than those were when they launched.

I've got the original Xperia Z and it's only waterproof while the rubber seals are intact. One of my seals has perished and the phone's usb socket snapped off which was deemed normal by Sony customer services, which I wouldn't recommend. Odd that no other phone I've owned has done this...For the poor build quality issues and useless customer services, I wouldn't buy another Sony phone.
I've had a Z2 for 3 weeks now, after having iphones for 6 years, it's not been the easiest of swaps with a Google chrome issue on the second day, which took a week to sort out, then a refusal to connect to my home and work wi-fi networks, which seems to have been solved with a sort reset completely, these have been the bad points, the good points music replay with the noise cancelling headphones if amazing, and as a phone it works as advertised, but the best thing is the camera, 4K video capture is stunning and for stills it's amazing....

No one has actually had one to say the battery is an issue, just the reviews, which are of a Korean phone by the looks of it.
Are the rumours true that we are only getting the 2gb ram version?
My concern about the Z2 is that in a few months or becomes a generation old. By the time my contract is due it will be around 4 generations old. That will hit resale surely?

I've had my G3 for 3 days now and I've had no issues with the battery life. It is lasting longer than than Samsung Galaxy S3 it has replaced. It is comfortably lasting all day without needing a charge. I charge my phone every night, so as long as a phone can make it through a day I'm happy.
I'll report back after the weekend as that will represent a more typical day than the weekend.

I can't fault the Z2 on any level, it's just so good at everything and makes it a very good all round phone.
The waterproofing is great and will be giving it a try properly when on holiday with something decent to film, I tried it today in 4k quickly when my mothers new purchase came.

Finally played with them all back to back. All great phones and there really is not a huge amount between the m8, s5 and z2. Out of those, the z2 would be the for me as I think the S5 build is rubbish and I have concerns about reliability. z2 pips the m8 for me personally as I prefer the screen and I have a few mates with the M8 and its nice to have something different.
G3 though feels like a very different beast. In terms of performance I couldn't notice any real difference, battery drain seemed ok on all phones but the G3 just feels like it is a step ahead of the game. Truth is, they are all great bits of kit but the g3 just feels more sorted and more considered than the others.
Plus it comes in a shiny box :-D

Interesting review of the Oppo Find 7, seems to outperform the LG G3:

First evening with the g3....
Full charge at 8:30, used for 3 hrs of calls, some on speaker, a live whatsapp chat at the same time so the screen on some of the time. Wifi on all the time but only connected for 3 hrs. It was also happily downloading apps and doing installs during the calls.
Sound quality seems good, the earphones are not bad at all which is a nice bonus
All that lot used 35% charge, the s3 when brand new could not have come close to that.
It is a big old thing but very light and comfortable in the hand.
Android implementation is good and responsive and the proprietary features I have played with so far, not least the rather neat remote control app, seems rather good.
Customisation of the keyboard is a really nice touch.
All in all, rather good bit of kit

Imho, of "reasonably" sized flagship devices, the G3 is top notch.
The screen is a bit overkill imho, but if battery life and performance doesn't suffer too much I don't see why not.
Personally, I'd have a look at the Find 7 as well, it looks ace and Oppo's build quality is top of the line. Depends on what you use it for, but the speaker for example on my Find 5 blows everything but the HTC out of the water.
Sony usually have some nice handsets but I've never "gelled" with them, and while being slim, they usually have a pretty poor screen-bezel ratio (ie relatively big phone for small screen).
Here is a nice size comparison:
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Sony-Xperia-...
It shows the G3 being the same size as the Z2, while having a .3 bigger screen.
