I googled it and followed instructions using Ethernet cable.

But - I presume you need an internet connection to do this, but I cannot achieve this as I have to unplug the internet in order to connect the PC to my MacBook?

I did also try plugging the Ethernet cable from my MacBook into my rooter but this didn't work either.

I think the best option is to get a flash drive or external hard drive - but if do this option will the pictures and file convert to correct format from mac to PC?

thanks

I had no joy with the above

The desk PC doesn't have wifi, so to connect the Mac to the PC i use an Ethernet cable but there is only 1 port on the back of each machine so then the PC does not have internet.

I did also try plugging the mac into the Router and going via that to PC but it didn't work.

Today I have brought the MAC into work and tried moving pictures on an External hard drive - That wont work either and the files are unrecognized or wrong format etc ( the drive is formatted for a Windows)

I have another hard drive that was a windows format but I re formatted to Mac and this is my back up, time capsule etc - I can move the pitures to this but the transition back to windows machine is a nightmare.

I am sort of new to Mac and the 'lack of explorer' and using 'finder' I do struggle with.

I haven't done any editing, basically our windows PC died at home and we had an external hard drive, so I moved all pictures onto drive, then onto new mac, then had to re format the drive, then use as a back up on Mac - so it is now a Mac back up, if you plug it into a windows PC it isn't even recognized!

So the pictures have not been edited at all just sit in IPhoto and get added to occasionally, so all I want to do is move IPhoto library back onto a PC.

I am due to go on holiday tomorrow and the Mac has now ran out of juice so I will try this again next week , but thanks for the tips.

It is 73MB of photos and the sooner I get them off IPhoto the better as it is slow and I think its st!

But IIRC when I try to export and select Jpeg, quality etc - 0 files exported out of the 15000 pics!

I am close to getting a 16mb memory stick and doing it bit by bit or getting NAS drive and connect windows/mac/sonos to one drive but they may be a step too far for me and I'll spit my dummy out!

OK - connect up your Windows formatted external drive.
Launch iPhoto and go to the edit menu - "Select All"
The go to the File menu and select "Export"
Check the output file format an quality to be sure you're happy with them, then click on the Export button
Select your Windows formatted drive as the target and click on OK

then wait for it to complete.

Once done, check the files on the Windows drive. If all is OK, eject it and check it again on a Windows box.

(It sounds like iPhoto has helpfully imported all your photos into its Library which can be a b*tch to work with outside the program).
Got to the point of exporting, looked promising, but 0 out of 14875 were successfully exported!

I've only gone and done it...

I had to reformat my mac external drive and loose my back up to 'FAT32' then exported pictures from Mac and transferred to the PC. I could also back up the PC on the external drive, but the not the Mac, so I will need to get a new external drive.

The MacBook is slow, it took 1hr to empty the iPhoto trash!
